In july of 2002 I showed the painter Jean Girigorie some paintings I had made with gouache on paper. She gave me some tubes of oil paint and a huge unprepared canvas on crudely made stretchers. She told me it would take me at least three months to make a painting on a canvas of that size.
It took me three weeks of hard work. I’ve haven’t looked back ever since.
